Mr. Lonsdale rejoined Standard Steel in January 2015 following 7 years as VP-Research & Development for Amsted Rail. From 1998-2008 he was Technical Manager Railway Products and VP – Technical for Standard Steel. He also worked for Conrail in Engineering, Sales and Marketing, and Transportation for more than 10 years. Mr. Lonsdale holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and an MBA from Saint Francis University (PA). He has authored or co-authored more than 100 technical papers and presentations on railroad industry subjects including wheel and axle manufacturing and performance, and rail welding. Mr. Lonsdale was the 2008-2009 Chairman of the ASME Rail Transportation Division, is a former member of the AAR Heavy Axle Load Engineering Research Committee (HALERC), and is a current member of the AAR Wheels, Axles, Bearings and Lubrication (WABL) Committee.
