Junji Sarashina




Born in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai‘i in 1929, Junji went to Japan to study Japanese. When World War II broke out, he was unable to return to the U.S. and stayed with his relatives in Hiroshima. He was 16 years old and 1.5 miles from the hypocenter when the atomic bomb was detonated over the city. He is also a Korean War veteran and currently lives in Orange County, Calif.
