Driven by a desire to spend more time with his children, in 2010 Brett C. Mitchell resigned his position as vice president of convention center operations & regional vice president for Global Spectrum (now OVG360) and returned as general manager of the Overland Park Convention Center. In the past four years Exhibitor Magazine has named the Overland Park Convention Center the Best Small Convention Center in North America three times and once the Best Customer Service for Convention Centers of any size. Brett earned a degree in Sports Business Management from Brigham Young University and later served on the Industry Advisory Council for the school’s Facility Management Program. He currently serves as Chair of IAVM’s Convention Center Committee and a member of CEIR’s Research Committee. In 2021 Brett was honored to receive ESCA’s Volunteer of the Year Award. Brett is the son of a Marine Corps General, the husband of twenty-seven years to Sheila Cook Mitchell of Vernal, Utah and most proud of being father of Georgia, Emma, Noah, and Maia.
