As a kid, Russ wanted to be an architect - until he realized his creativity flourished within the architectural form, as compared to around the creation of that same form. Thus, an engineer and architectural advocate was born. After an internship at Henderson Engineers in years gone by, Russ re-joined the team in 2016 and quickly established a reputation for client service and technical acumen in Venues. An avid learner and mentor for his colleagues, Russ has also spent time during his career progression serving as a professor in Kansas State University’s College of Engineering. Since returning to Henderson, Russ functions as a Principal, Convention Center Practice Director within the Venue Sector, and the Technical Director for the overall Venue Sector and all of its practices. His understanding of high-occupancy facilities, attention to detail, client service focus, and ability to inspire and drive others to be their best designers and selves sets him up for success in the role(s), both for his clients, and the projects overall.
