Doug Silverstein is an employment attorney and worked at all the big defense firms before he saw the light and founded Kesluk, Silverstein, Jacob & Morrison. He’s won 19 of his last 20 trials, and recovered punitive damages is his last 6 trials. He’s been appointed lead class counsel in dozens of wage and hour class and PAGA actions. He has argued cases in the California Courts of Appeal, Second, Ninth and D.C. federal circuits, and has numerous published opinions establishing law on issues of first impression, including the first California case recognizing FEHA associational discrimination. Doug has been honored as one of the Top Labor & Employment Attorneys in California by The Daily Journal 9 out of the past 11 years, including 2023. Doug is the Immediate Past President of CAALA, and is a past Chair of CAALA Vegas. Doug is a Past Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) Litigation Section, where he meets regularly with federal and state court judges, and bar leaders to advance the cause of justice. He serves on the Los Angeles Superior Court (LASC) Bench Bar Committee, and Chaired the LASC Bench Bar Employment Law Working Group. Doug is also a member of the California Civility Task Force that is responsible for several new initiatives to promote civility in the practice of law. Prior to joining a law firm, Doug was a Judicial Extern Clerk to former Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the Ninth Circuit, and a Judicial Extern Clerk to Judge Irving Shimer of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Through his class action practice, Doug has secured contributions in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to legal aid foundations that provide access to justice for those unable to afford it. Doug coached his kids’ soccer team to the California state championship, before his kids realized they could go further without him as their coach and became hockey players. Before becoming an attorney, Doug worked as a sommelier and late night radio DJ.
