Percy Brown
Director of Equity and Student Achievement
Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District

Named one of the most influential African-Americans in Wisconsin, Percy Brown, Jr. comes from a family of civil rights activists that fought for equal rights during the 1950’s and 60’s in Mississippi. Raised in Madison, Brown grew up in the black church with his father serving as a deacon for nearly 40 years, was exposed to college and fraternity life through his uncle Charles and followed the life of a drug dealer with his uncle Morgan. Brown brings a perspective that is balanced between faith, academics, street knowledge and activism. Brown is the Director of Equity and Student Achievement for the Middleton Cross Plains Area School District, Senior Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an adjunct instructor for the School of Education at Edgewood College.
