Britte McBride is a Commissioner of the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commissioner. Commissioner McBride was appointed to the Cannabis Control Commission as the public safety appointee by Attorney General Maura Healey on September 1, 2017. Previous positions include Legal Counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety within the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS); Deputy Counsel to the Massachusetts Senate; and Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Office, where she also served as Chief of the Policy and Government Division and Deputy Chief of Staff. Over the course of her career, Commissioner McBride has worked on several high-profile policy issues including landmark anti-human trafficking legislation and the development of Massachusetts’ first comprehensive report on human trafficking; an overhaul of the state’s victim compensation law to provide additional resources to victims of violent crime; legislation to provide veterans’ assistance and benefits; and home foreclosure prevention efforts that include the establishment of the national model AGO HomeCorps program and working with the Legislature on first-in-the-nation homeowner protection legislation. Immediately prior to her appointment to the Commission she ran her own small law office. Commissioner McBride is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
