Kori is a first-generation student from the rural community of Liberty, Texas. She graduated from Liberty High School in a three-year graduation program in the top 15 percent of her class and went on to earn a dual-major bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry at the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Honors. In 2016, she graduated with her Master of Science in biotechnology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. She is a current Ph.D. candidate in bioinformatics through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ Join Campus Program. Her dissertation area is genetic engineering and multi-omic studies for dual-use crops and agricultural biosciences.
