Annie Johnson Benifield

Annie is a Professor of political science and Chair of Social Sciences at Lone Star College-Tomball, where she teaches government and politics and is a mentor in the Student Success Initiative (SSI), a program for at-risk students. She is also Vice President of Voter Services for the League of Women Voters of Houston (LWV-H). She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of New Orleans and a master’s in political science from Clark Atlanta University. She is a member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association and has served in all of its executive officer positions, from treasurer to president. Among many other honors, she received the Helen Hunter Award from the LWV-H for advancing the league’s mission in voter registration projects and benefiting the community.
