             Major Harvey enlisted in the Marine Corps from Romeoville, Illinois in late 1998.  He began his career as an infantryman and deployed to Panama to provide security for personnel and installations as the United States ended its Panama Canal security mission.  He also deployed to the Mediterranean on the USS Kearsarge as a member of the battalion landing team, which conducted multiple security cooperation exercises as well as participated in Operation Rapid Cheetah.  Major Harvey transitioned to the officer corps in 2006 via the enlisted commissioning program after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from St. Leo University.  His first assignment following the Basic School and Adjutants Course was as Assistant Operations Officer and Assistant Adjutant for Marine Forces Reserve G-1.  There, Major Harvey led a team to develop and launch a web-based, CAC-enabled system to track the location and status of service members and dependents during natural disaster evacuation efforts.  Major Harvey twice deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with 3d Marine Aircraft Wing in various roles to include seven months as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1.  He served as Company Commander, Service Company, MCRD San Diego prior to executing orders to the Naval Postgraduate School, where he earned an M.S. in Information Technology Management.  Major Harvey’s last assignment was as the Director of Innovation at Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity where he co-founded and led a cell that created a low-cost, computer vision-based, artificially intelligent system to improve access control and physical security.  Currently, he serves as the Director of Installation NeXt-West, Marine Corps Installations-West and the Director of the NavalX SoCal Tech Bridge where he leads collaborative partnerships to unlock emerging technology for the DoD by leveraging the convergence of installations, academia, and military installations in the region.
