Captain(N) William (Bill) Quinn joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1985 and graduated from le Collège militaire royal de St-Jean in 1990. He later earned a Masters Degree from the Royal Military College of Canada, At sea Captain(N) Quinn has served in numerous surface warfare positions, up to and including Commanding Officer. He has sailed every ocean except the Antarctic, and has ridden the waves in HMCS Yukon, Cowichan, Qu’Appelle, Margaree, Algonquin, Athabaskan, Iroquois, Toronto, Ville de Quebec and Calgary. In staff roles ashore Captain(N) Quinn has served as a Squadron Commander at the Royal Military College of Canada, a staff officer in the Directorate of Maritime Strategy and in the Directorate of Defence Analysis, the Deputy Chief of Staff - Operations and Intelligence Fusion (Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters), the NORAD Maritime Liaison Officer in Washington, DC, the Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander for Combined Task Force 150 with the Royal Australian Navy, the Personnel Branch Head (J1) at Canadian Joint Operations Command, and as the Director Canadian Forces Grievance Authority. Captain(N) Quinn has commanded at sea and ashore, having been the Captain of HMCS Calgary, the Commandant of the Canadian Forces Naval Operations School and the Commanding Officer of the Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare Centre. In July of 2020 Captain(N) Quinn was appointed to his present position as the Canadian Naval Attaché and Assistant Defence Attaché in Washington, DC.
