Former Commander, Naval Air Systems Command (2012-2015)



VADM(ret) David A Dunaway is a 34 year veteran of the US Navy. He retired in December of 2015 as the Commander of the Naval Air Systems Command where he lead 36,000 government, military and contractor personnel in the execution of a $35+ billion enterprise with over 4000 manned/unmanned aircraft and combat systems. His other flag assignments included Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force and Commander Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division in China Lake, California. A 1982 graduate of the US Naval Academy, VADM Dunaway flew the FA-18 operationally. In 1989, he attended USN Test Pilot School where he began a 26 year emphasis on aircraft, weapon and weapon system design, development, verification and validation. His efforts over his career touched virtually every platform, weapon, network and sensor deployed in Naval Aviation today. In retirement from the Naval Service, VADM Dunaway is an independent consultant with a number of defense and technology companies in his portfolio. He is also co founder of Point Conception, an integrated solutions company focused on providing unique solutions to complex problems.
