Berend Brasjen was born in 1986 in the Netherlands. He obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in Applied Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2008 and 2012 and subsequently joined the Dutch national research institute TNO. After a four-year stint in the oil and gas industry, he has been working with Tata Steel Netherlands R&D since 2018 as a Principal Researcher, where he focuses on temperature and product quality control in continuous annealing and hot-dip galvanising. In his free time, he volunteers as a member of local and regional parent-teacher councils.
