Dawn Simpson is a Director in the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s Financial Management and Assurance Team. She oversees the annual audits of the U.S. government’s consolidated financial statements and IRS’s financial statements. She is also responsible for maintaining the methodologies for performing federal financial statement audits and testing of federal information system controls. She has worked extensively on fiscal sustainability and federal debt issues, serving as the agency’s representative to the International Supreme Audit Institution’s Working Group on Public Debt since 2011. Dawn received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Government Accountants.
