With over 27 years’ experience, Charles "Chuck" Botwright is expert in federal financial regulations, audit oversight, and operational excellence. Chuck is an accomplished federal government finance professional with extensive experience in audit oversight and team leadership. Since 2013, Chuck has worked at the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) as the Director of Financial Audits. He leads critical oversight efforts of reconstruction programs funded by the Department of Defense, State Department, and USAID. Prior to SIGAR, Chuck worked as a government contractor in business operations for a $300 million division, worked at a small business consulting company, where he helped business owners understand their financial situation. Earlier in his career, he worked at Saks Fifth Ave, EY, and Comcast. Under Chuck's leadership, his financial audit team earned distinguished recognition, receiving the Inspector General's Team Excellence Award three times and the CIGIE Award of Excellence. While working at SIGAR, he received an Executive Education Certificate from Harvard and completed the CIGIE Experienced Leader Program Certificate from American University. He manages a specialized team, including senior management personnel and overseas staff, administering financial audits that evaluate internal controls, compliance with federal regulations, and special purpose financial statements. A skilled communicator and team builder, Chuck has demonstrated exceptional ability in managing cross-functional teams and developing both short-term and long-term strategic initiatives. His proactive approach to problem-solving and budget management has contributed to sustained operational excellence in federal financial oversight.
