Edward DeMasters
Special Education Teacher, Assistive Technology Team Leader
Gravette School District
Edward DeMasters is a dedicated Special Education teacher at Gravette Middle School, with four years of experience in the field. Before transitioning into education, Edward served in the military for five years, where he developed leadership skills and a passion for teaching. His journey into education began by teaching fellow service members about rifles and weapons, sparking his love for instruction and mentorship. Edward’s passion for education grew stronger after he and his wife were blessed with a son diagnosed with autism. This personal experience, coupled with his own diagnosis of fetal alcohol syndrome at age 13, motivated him to pursue a career in teaching. Edward worked hard throughout his educational career to overcome the challenges posed by his disability, which has given him a unique and empathetic perspective on the struggles faced by students with diverse learning needs. As a strong advocate for assistive technology, Edward is committed to helping both colleagues and students leverage its potential to create more inclusive and effective learning experiences. He strives to empower students by providing them with the tools they need to succeed, while also supporting educators in incorporating technology to better meet the needs of all learners.
