Laurie Anderson-Smith is a results-driven educational administrator with 29 years of experience in education and leadership. For over 15 years, she has been a Nonpublic Instructional Specialist/LEA for Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS). Additionally, she designs and delivers professional training, chairs multidisciplinary meetings, and advises on legal and compliance matters. Beyond PGCPS, Laurie was an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University, teaching Methods of Teaching Special Education. She has led special education departments, trained staff on best practices, and supervised in-home behavioral support services. Laurie is a Board Member for Paul Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., contributing to governance, policy development, and student success initiatives. She is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Bowie State University (expected 2026). She holds a Master of Arts in Transitional Special Education a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Human Development from George Washington University, and a Project Management Professional Certification from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Laurie has delivered professional presentations at national and international conferences, including the Hawaii International Conference on Education, Teacher Educators for Children with Behavioral Disorders Conference (Arizona State University), Institute of Restorative Practices Conference (Bowie State University), and The Global Educator Teacher Summit in Kingston, Jamaica. Laurie remains committed to equity, advocacy, and systemic improvement in special education through research, leadership, and innovation.
