Dixon Deutsch

Dixon Deutsch is the Director of Charter Operated Programs within the Division of Special Education at Los Angeles Unified. In this role, Dixon is responsible for leading the district team of 12 that support over 200 independent charter schools across Los Angeles ensuring transparent, efficient, and innovative district practices of supporting a community of charter schools. He enjoys working with schools on more inclusive approaches in supporting students with special needs, cultivating relationships amongst various educational stakeholders, and developing and implementing the systems necessary to build and support special education across a multitude of schools. Prior to this role, Dixon began his career in education through Teach For America and served as a district and charter teacher and a charter administrator in New York City. Dixon is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, holds an M.S. in Early Childhood and Special Education from Lehman College, and an Ed.M. in Educational Change: Special Education from Bank Street College of Education. He is currently completing an MBA program at the University of California, Los Angeles.
