Emily Beers

Emily Beers, M.Ed. is a dedicated leader in the field of special education and innovative learning models. With a background in both brick-and-mortar and virtual education, Emily has been instrumental in shaping inclusive, high-achieving programs for diverse learners. Emily taught as a special education teacher for several years before pursuing a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Oklahoma State University. Through her career and education, Emily developed a deep understanding of student behavior, intervention strategies, and inclusive practices. Emily transitioned into school leadership in 2020, during a period of unprecedented growth that saw Epic Charter School expand from 30,000 to 60,000 students. As a principal, Emily led one of Epic’s highest-achieving special education teams, successfully improving outcomes despite serving an exceptionally high-risk student population. As the Director of Special Services, Emily played a pivotal role in designing and launching Comet Academy, a groundbreaking hybrid model within Epic Charter School that strategically blends the flexibility of virtual learning with in-person instruction. The inclusion program developed for Comet Academy is the first of its kind, setting a new standard for special education. Comet Academy has achieved remarkable success, with special education and regular education students significantly outperforming their peers on state assessments. Throughout Emily’s career, she has been committed to developing and implementing tiered behavior intervention programs, expanding opportunities for students with disabilities, and advocating for innovative educational models that support all learners. Her passion for inclusive education and student success continues to drive Comet Academy’s growth and impact throughout the state of Oklahoma.
