Scott Barber is a seasoned financial management professional with over 25 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and internal controls within the federal government. His career reflects a deep commitment to financial excellence, organizational improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Scott began his federal service at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he served for 17 years in various managerial and accounting roles. He managed high-profile federal accounts including the Judgment Fund, the Presidential Election Campaign Fund, and the Former Presidents Pension Fund. He played a key role in maintaining Treasury’s unqualified audit opinion by working closely with external auditors and leading efforts to ensure financial reporting integrity and operational efficiency. Scott is recognized for his ability to lead major initiatives under pressure, consistently delivering quality results in complex environments. Currently at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Scott continues to drive innovation in financial management. He has developed and implemented automated processes to resolve accounting issues, conducted root cause analyses, and led corrective action initiatives that improved financial accuracy and transparency. His collaborative approach with program offices and executive leadership reflects his commitment to achieving long-term financial excellence. Before entering federal service, Scott worked in the public accounting sector as an auditor and tax preparer. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Baltimore.
