U.S. Postal Inspection Service
Louis J. DiRienzo is a Deputy Chief Inspector at the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the law enforcement and security arm of the U.S. Postal Service. In this role he oversees several headquarters functions, including National Security, Global Security, Governance, Strategy, Forensic Laboratory Services, and the agency’s national training academy. Inspector DiRienzo was appointed to this role in April 2025. Inspector DiRienzo’s federal law enforcement career started in 2003 when he was appointed as a Postal Inspector. He has held numerous assignments with the agency, including being embedded as an investigator at the U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division, managing the agency’s fraud and prohibited mailing program, and serving as the agency’s Chief Counsel. He has also delivered consulting services in the areas of fraud mitigation and compliance. Prior to joining the Inspection Service, he was a Sergeant with the Lancaster, Pennsylvania Bureau of Police. Inspector DiRienzo received a Bachelor of Science from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Juris Doctor from Widener University, and has obtained professional certificates from the Harvard University Law School, and University of Pennsylvania University School of Law. He is a U.S. Army combat veteran, having served with the 82d Airborne Division.
