Stephanie serves as the Deputy Commissioner for Population Health and Preparedness at the Virginia Department of Health. In this capacity, she provides executive leadership for critical state public health functions, including environmental health, radiological safety, communicable disease, prevention, emergency medical services, and preparedness initiatives. She brings over 14 years of experience in public health administration, having held leadership roles at the Washington State Department of Health and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. She has led high-impact initiatives focused on infectious disease control, chronic disease prevention, maternal and infant health, and emergency response, with a strong emphasis on data-driven strategies and cross-sector collaboration. She began her career public health career with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Iowa and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
