Captain Arellano received a commissioned as an Ensign at the US Naval Academy in 2001, where he also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He obtained an Executive Master's in Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2009.
Operational tours include duty onboard the USS West Virginia (SSBN 736)(GOLD) during five strategic deterrent patrols, after which he re-designated as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer; at Naval Special Warfare Group One, which included deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; at the Joint Communications Integration Element, which included a deployment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel; at US Third Fleet; at the Joint Cyber Operations Group as a Squadron Commanding Officer; and at US Central Command with the National Security Agency.
Support tours include duty at the Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group and at the Navy Information Warfare Training Group – San Diego as the Executive Officer.
Captain Arellano re-designated as a Maritime Cyber Warfare Officer in 2023. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (with Gold Star), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Star).
