Major General Jeffrey (Jeff) A. VanAntwerp assumed command of U.S. Special
Operations Command Pacific July 3, 2025. Previously he served as the US Army Pacific
Command G3 Operations Officer.
Major General VanAntwerp was commissioned in 1998 following graduation from the
United States Military Academy at West Point. He attended the infantry officer’s basic
course at Ft. Benning, Georgia served as an Infantry Platoon Leader at the 25th ID in
Hawaii, and as a Company Commander in a Stryker BDE at Joint Base Lewis-McChord
and Iraq from 2004-2006.
In 2008, Major General VanAntwerp was assessed and selected by an Army Special
Operations Unit and served in various Special Operations assignments deploying to
multiple locations in support of the war on terror. In 2020, he was assigned as the Deputy
Commander for Operations at the 25th Infantry Division where he had the opportunity to
operate throughout the Indo-Pacific.
A graduate of Columbia University and the US Army War College, Major General
VanAntwerp is married with seven children and enjoys spending time with his kids,
working out, and surfing when he can.
