Jason Schalow
Chief, Special Missions Flight
412th Communications Squadron
JASON A. SCHALOW is Chief of the Special Missions Flight at the 412th Communications Squadron, Edwards AFB, CA. He leads a 52-member flight consisting of both a team of agile enterprise software developers and testers who build custom business and flight operations software solutions to meet the unique requirements of RDT&E programs at Edwards AFB and a team of defensive cyber operators who are charged with protecting the 412th Test Wing’s test and evaluation mission and responding to cyberspace incidents. Mr. Schalow entered civilian service in February of 2002. He has been a member of the Communications Squadron and its predecessor organizations for 23 years, holding a variety of positions including Base Communications Architect, Chief of Information Assurance and Chief of Network Operations. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in pure mathematics in 1998, Mr. Schalow worked briefly as the IT manager for a start-up company in Los Angeles before being hired as a software developer by a service contractor at Edwards AFB. During his year and a half as a service contractor, he was instrumental in developing the first version of Center Ops Online which is now the standard flight operations software suite for AFMC and in use at over 60 flying units across the United States Air Force.
