CDR Gore joined the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) on 29 January 2003 as a Direct Entry Officer in the Maritime Logistics (ML) specialization. His ship assignments have included the Leander-class Frigate HMNZS CANTERBURY, the Offshore Patrol Vessel HMNZS OTAGO and the Multi-Role Support Ship, HMNZS CANTERBURY – the latter two as a Head of Department. CDR Gore has completed a varied number of Logistics staff officer positions ranging from the NZDF’s J4 Operational Joint Force HQ, the S4 for the NZ Provincial Reconstruction Team in Bamyan Afghanistan, duties at the RNZN Naval Supply Depot, Deputy Director Naval Engineering (Logistics), Defence Logistics Advisor to the US, Deputy Supply Chain Manager, NZDF Seaworthiness Lead for Personnel, Training and Logistics, and was a Career Talent Manager for all qualified RNZN logistics officers under the rank of CDR. Other notable assignments have included Flag Lieutenant to the Chief of Navy, United Nations Military Observer to the UN Truce Supervision Organisation and Personal Staff Officer to both Vice Chief of Defence and Chief of Defence Force. He posted as the Naval Attache and Assistant Defence Attache to the USA in late June 2025 for a three-year term. CDR Gore’s academic credentials include a Masters of Strategic Studies (with Distinction), a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies (Management), a Postgraduate Diploma of Arts in International Relations and a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management.
