Raju Shah is the Director of the Enterprise Engineering Directorate and Chief Experience Officer at the Defense Information Systems Agency. In this role, he serves as the agency's principal advisor on enterprise engineering, leading the directorate to improve the end-user experience through technical rigor, modeling and simulation, and proactive end-to-end analysis. Before his current role at DISA, Shah was the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services. While there, he also served as Acting CIO and as a senior advisor for data science. Prior to serving at USDA, Shah had a long history with DISA. He served as the Deputy Director and Program Manager of the National Background Investigation Services. He was also the Civilian Deputy for the Services Directorate, where he delivered mission-critical enterprise and tactical systems. Shah converted data centers into a line of business ecosystems, providing consistent enterprise service support to the warfighter, business, and intelligence missions. Shah began his federal career at NASA, where he was the Chief of the Information and Applications Office. He later became a Deputy Chief Information Officer at the John H. Glenn Research Center. Beyond his federal service, Shah has academic experience as the Director of Information Technology at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he led various projects including IT consolidation and the development of IT governance standards. Shah has received numerous awards for his contributions and accomplishments. In 2024, he was honored with the Service to the Citizen Award for his innovative use of ML-AIOps to deliver simple, secure, and seamless services for the Department of Defense. In 2019, Shah earned the Service to the Citizen Champion of Change Award while working for USDA. During his tenure at NBIS, he was awarded Directorate of the Year. For his work at NASA, Shah received the prestigious Silver Achievement Medal and multiple group achievement awards. Shah has a master’s in information systems and a bachelor’s in computer science, along with multiple industry-leading certifications.
