John Sahlin, Ph.D.

John Sahlin is the Vice President of Cyber Portfolio at General Dynamics Information Technology‘s Defense Division. He is a senior technology executive whose demonstrated expertise spans technical, program, and business management. He applied his deep experience designing enterprise and tactical edge systems to GDIT’s Everest Zero Trust program, resulting in a first of kind field deployment of a modular Zero Trust solution to update legacy DoW and Federal Agency infrastructure to complete a DoW CIO Purple Team Assessment. Dr. Sahlin is leading GDIT’s efforts to align Everest ZT with the DoW CIO requirements for OT cybersecurity. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he earned his Ph.D. in systems engineering from The George Washington University, where he teaches cybersecurity. Among his achievements include winning the WashingtonExec 2023 Pinnacle Award for Cybersecurity Executive of the Year and the Fortress 2025 Cybersecurity Leader Award.
