Sharon McMillon

Defense Information Systems Agency
Sharon McMillon is the Vice Director of Programs at the Defense Information Systems Agency's Command, Control, Communications and Computers Enterprise Directorate (J-6). In this role, she directs strategic planning, budget and oversight of DISA’s Unclassified and Classified Enterprise Service Offerings as well as the Pentagon Information Technology Ecosystem. With 15 years’ experience in the IT field spanning both government and industry, McMillon brings a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen and leadership skills to the role. Prior to this role, McMillon served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer in DISA’s Enterprise Integration and Innovation organization. In this capacity, she oversaw a dedicated workforce charged with ensuring a strategic and proactive approach to agency compliance with federal and Department of War standards relating to IT, cybersecurity and personnel. As Deputy CIO for DISA, McMillon strove to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall technology landscape of the agency. Key areas of focus included developing and modernizing agency IT policy, IT compliance reporting as mandated by federal law and DOW governance as it relates to utilization of IT and commodity IT services, and strategic partner engagement. Additionally, she directed modernization of IT capabilities for the workforce through adoption and integration of new or updated tools and sunset of legacy services. Prior to joining DISA, McMillon worked for U.S. Africa Command’s Cyber Security Division, developing and implementing process improvements including data transfer approval, privileged account management, and cyber workforce compliance reporting. McMillon started her career as a programmer, developing software and implementing data migration strategies for small companies and state organizations. While working as a contractor, she designed and programmed extract/transform/load packages to migrate data into Microsoft’s business intelligence platform and planned, developed, and implemented testing methodologies to ensure accuracy of data migrations McMillon is driven by a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture that empowers teams to thrive and deliver exceptional results. With a strong belief in the power of technology to drive social impact, she’s dedicated to advancing DISA’s mission through collaborative leadership, strategic vision, and a focus on employee engagement. McMillon graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in management information.
