Darrin Henke grew up in Amarillo, Texas, aspiring to follow in his father’s footsteps as an engineer. He now resides in Houston, Texas, and has served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chord Energy since January 2024. Before joining Chord Energy, Darrin was the President and CEO of Ranger Oil Corporation, which was acquired by Baytex Energy in 2023. Darrin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Petroleum Engineer. He also completed an Advanced Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Chord Energy is the largest producer and acreage-holder in the Williston Basin of North Dakota and Montana and employs approximately 675 people. Darrin is a member of the North Dakota Petroleum Council Board of Directors.   Reflecting on this role he shares, “An affordable, reliable supply of energy is a cornerstone to our way of life.  Oil is a key building block to all the products used and enjoyed by society.  I appreciate the tireless work the NDPC does to support our industry and keep regulations in check.” On a personal note, Darrin is deeply committed to his faith and family. Married for 28 years, he is the proud father of three adult children, all of whom followed in his footsteps to become engineers. Two of them are even part of the oil and gas industry. In his free time, Darrin enjoys pickleball, golf, hunting, shooting, skiing, and traveling. With two of his children now married, he looks forward to the joy of becoming a grandfather someday.
