Paul Wertz is a federal, defense, and public-sector growth executive with more than 25 years of experience across telecommunications, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, public safety, smart infrastructure, and emerging technology ecosystems. He is the Founder and CEO of SherpaWerx and currently serves as President of AFCEA Atlanta, where he helps convene government, military, industry, academia, and public safety leaders around national security, cybersecurity, homeland security, emerging technology, and mission resilience. Through SherpaWerx, Paul supports strategic initiatives connecting government, industry, academia, and mission partners around defense modernization, operational resilience, AI-enabled capabilities, and public-sector innovation. He is also involved in the Borderland Finland Initiative, a multinational effort focused on Arctic and contested-environment security, border resilience, situational awareness, resilient communications, autonomous systems, AI-enabled decision support, and NATO/EU/U.S. interoperability. Prior to founding SherpaWerx, Paul spent more than two decades at AT&T supporting federal, defense, SLED, and commercial accounts tied to mission-critical communications, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, mobility, IoT, 5G, and Smart Base initiatives. Earlier in his career, he served in public safety as a paramedic, firefighter, rescue operator, flight medic, and disaster-response volunteer, giving him a practical understanding of crisis response, preparedness, and operational decision-making under pressure.
