Bhargav Palaskar is a cybersecurity researcher and software engineer with experience spanning secure software development, AI-enhanced threat detection, and critical infrastructure security. He is a graduate student in Computer Science at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he maintains a 4.0 GPA and has been recognized on both the President's and Dean's Lists during his undergraduate studies. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, with work spanning AI-enhanced cybersecurity for smart grid infrastructure, privacy-preserving machine learning on encrypted databases, AI-powered threat detection in IoT wearables, and 5G and smart cities. His paper on AI-enhanced cybersecurity for smart grid infrastructure using the NIST Framework was published on IEEE Xplore and presented at the IEEE ISDFS 2026 International Conference. Prior to graduate school, Bhargav served as a Security Software Engineer at Security Journey, where he developed AppSec training modules across multiple languages and platforms, built secure generative AI training pipelines, and supported secure software development lifecycle integration for a global developer community of over 10,000. He holds certifications and brings hands-on expertise in SAST/DAST, OWASP Top 10, penetration testing, threat modeling, and secure code review.
