Soumik Mitra is a computer scientist and software engineer with a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.67. One of Soumik's notable accomplishments was developing and publishing an Android application focused on discrete mathematics during his undergraduate studies. The application was launched on the Google Play Store in March 2024 and provided students with organized study materials through PDF-based content. The project involved user research, interface design using Figma, Android development with Java and XML, and integration of Google Ads. The application gained over 100 users within its first month and received positive feedback for its simplicity and ease of use. He is a researcher as well as a builder, where he co-authored and presented a peer-reviewed paper at IEEE ISDFS 2026 in Boston on AI-enhanced cybersecurity for smart grid infrastructure, applying machine learning models, including XGBoost, Random Forest and Logistic Regression, within the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. His professional experience includes several campus roles at USCA as a SOC Analyst, a SysOps Technician and a Mathematics and Computer Science Tutor.
