Mike Montgomery retired from the Prince George’s County (Maryland) Police Department after 20 years, half of which were spent conducting criminal and internal investigations. Shortly after retirement, Mr. Montgomery held investigative positions within the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles and the D.C. Office of Inspector General before joining the Office of the Chief Financial Officer in December 2013. He currently serves as Supervisory Investigator in the OCFO’s Office of Integrity and Oversight. Mr. Montgomery leads a staff of investigators responsible for conducting background investigations, inquiries and investigations into alleged employee misconduct. Mr. Montgomery has extensive experience conducting and managing complex criminal and administrative investigations involving external financial fraud, tax fraud, fraud against entitlement programs, and procedural and ethics violations by employees. Mr. Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Virginia Tech and previously served as an adjunct faculty member in the Criminal Justice Department at Prince George’s Community College. Outside of his investigative work, Mr. Montgomery enjoys travel, exploring new culinary experiences, and life as a part-time jazz bassist!
