Stephen Zakowicz oversees CGI Federal’s Department of Homeland Security work, which spans cybersecurity, border security, immigration and financial systems modernization to safeguard our national security. He leads a team of 350 professionals who work every day to protect our national interests and bring innovation and efficiency to the components his team serves. His leadership is widely recognized in the broader federal government and contractor community. He was recognized as a Cyber Executive to Watch by WashingtonExec in 2025 and 2026, primarily for his work supporting the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)’s Continuous Diagnostics and Monitoring (CDM) program. He also played a key role in developing a Strategic Collaboration Agreement between CGI Federal and Amazon Web Services (AWS), drawing on the strengths of both companies to accelerate AI innovation and expand secure cloud adoption across the federal government. Mr. Zakowicz has worked in the information technology industry for almost 25 years, supporting Fortune 500 companies and federal government organizations in digital transformation, application rationalization and cybersecurity. He graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in integrated science and technology, with concentrations in energy, environment and information knowledge management. He is also a Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
