Kevin Smith
Senior IT & Cybersecurity Analyst
GAO
Kevin Smith is a Senior Analyst within the Information Technology and Cybersecurity team at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). In this role, he leads audits of government-wide and agency specific IT and cybersecurity programs and practices. Kevin is a subject matter expert in areas including zero trust architecture, the federal Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program, cybersecurity in medical devices and other nontraditional IT devices, and the U.S. Census. Kevin joined GAO in 2018 and is also currently engaged in efforts to help GAO stand up its first ever Office of the Chief Technology Officer. Prior to joining GAO, Kevin worked in product management at a small technology company where he segued into a cybersecurity and audit role. Kevin holds a master’s degree in information science from the University of Michigan School of Information, and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
