Major Steven G. “Norm” Norris is a U.S. Marine Corps aviation and emerging technology leader currently assigned to Marine Corps Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC) as the All-Domain Attritable Autonomous (ADA2) Officer. He also serves as a subject matter expert supporting autonomous systems, counter-UxS, fires, and cross-functional efforts across the Indo-Pacific.
A Naval Aviator and CH-53E pilot, Major Norris has held operational, combat, technology development, and strategic planning roles throughout his military career. His experience includes deployments to Afghanistan and the Middle East, support to Operation Inherent Resolve, Forward Air Controller and Air Officer assignments, and executive-level projects during a Commandant Fellowship with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
At the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, he led and supported science and technology initiatives involving unmanned aircraft systems, counter-UAS, organic precision fires, experimentation, and the evolution of killchain-to-killweb integration. He later served as Future Operations Officer and Future Technologies SME for Marine Aircraft Group 24, supporting operational planning, aviation modernization, MQ-9A transition, joint training, and forward-deployed operations in the Indo-Pacific.
Major Norris brings a unique combination of operational aviation experience and expertise in emerging technologies, autonomous systems, fires, experimentation, and defense innovation. He is particularly experienced at connecting emerging capabilities with operational requirements and bringing together military, government, and industry stakeholders to accelerate capability development and employment.
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
