Cindy Esser, BSN, MBA, MHA, is the Director of Emerging Technologies at Butler Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. Responsible for the strategy and identification of new innovative technologies, Esser provides guidance on the implications and relevance of emerging technologies and how to best leverage offerings within the organizations enterprise strategy. Cindy leads the development and execution of pilots and projects focused on integrating technologies and process into clinical service line in inpatient and outpatient settings. She has been the founder and champion of both the Nursing Information Technology Innovation Award and the Clinical Innovation +Technology Accelerator Award for Butler Health System.
Prior to joining Butler Health System, Cindy worked in the Strategic Services Healthcare division at Marconi, a computer networking company, and as the Product Manager of automated bedside scanning at McKesson Automation. She formerly served as a Manager of Healthcare Consulting at Deloitte Consulting and as a Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Practice Manager for multispecialty physician groups and subsequently the Director of Strategic Services for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Her clinical experience spanned the areas of neurosurgery and operating room nursing.
Cindy’s clinical, educational and work experiences has allowed her to impact strategic areas including patient experience, access to care, care coordination, and chronic and complex care management.
Cindy received her MBA and MHA from the University of Pittsburgh School of Business and School of Public Health along with her BSN degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.
