Wahhaj Irfan leads the strategic planning and implementation of multiple programs across the System Performance Distribution category at Chicagoland’s utility ComEd with the goal of maximizing the effectiveness of investments to improve the reliability and resiliency of the distribution system. Some of the main programs in Wahhaj’s portfolio include the Pole program, Circuit Resiliency, 1% Worst Performing Circuits, ATS Modernization, and Network Monitoring. He will also lead the work plan development for System Performance Distribution and a key stakeholder for managing a $400+ Million category portfolio. Wahhaj holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has over 13 years of experience leading projects with significant operational and financial impact exceeding $100 Million, most recently serving as Principal Project Manager in Smart Grid & Technology department. Wahhaj also brings extensive experience with T&S equipment upgrades at substations, as well as knowledge on the design of nuclear power systems from his time at Exelon Nuclear – Braidwood Generating Station.
