Dr. Reshma Gupta, MD, MSHPM is a practicing internal medicine physician, Interim Chief Value Director at UCLA Olive View Medical Center DOM and previous Medical Director for Quality and Value at UCLA Health. She has led over 70 clinicians in value improvement initiatives across departments, linking initiatives to trainee education, and managing the health system’s Value Analytics and program management teams through a learning health system model. Here she has also designed strategy and implementation design for value improvement within the UCLA Office of Population Health and Accountable Care. Dr. Gupta’s works has focused in health system innovation, policy, implementation design, and education to better define and improve the culture of delivering high value care for health systems and patients. She has worked as an adviser with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to test new models of value promoting payment reform. Her research created the first High Value Care Culture Survey, evaluated drivers of value-based decision making in medical centers across California, and evaluated interventions to reduce expenditures for high cost conditions. Dr. Gupta has consulted in value improvement strategy and transformation across health systems through national initiatives. She serves as the Director of Evaluation and Outreach at Costs of Care where she leads a learning community of over 500 health system managers and educators across six countries. She speaks nationally on topics related to educating clinicians and implementing programs to improve healthcare value and affordability. Dr. Gupta has published in JAMA, Health Affairs, Academic Medicine, the Journal of Hospital Medicine, and others as well as interviewed with radio outlets such as NPR. She trained at UCSF, UW Seattle, and Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Fellowship with a masters in Health Policy and Management.
