Rico Attanasio is the director of Navigation and Communications Programs, Military/Civil Space within Boeing Defense, Space and Security. He is responsible for overall program execution, operations and sustainment as well as future architecture development of a portfolio of programs that deliver military and civil space products and services for position, navigation and timing, and satellite communications missions. Attanasio has more than 29 years of aerospace industry experience in both commercial and government space programs. Prior to his current post, Attanasio served as program director for Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM). Other previous assignments include program manager of the U.S. Air Force’s Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS), director of Mission Assurance for the USAF Space-Based Space Surveillance and X-37B programs, and program manager of XM Satellite Radio. Prior to joining Boeing, Attanasio held systems engineering leadership roles at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and The Aerospace Corporation. Attanasio received a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science degree in aerospace engineering both from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. He also completed the Program Management Executive course at Defense Acqusition University.
