David Petri is an outdoor industry professional with 30 years of proven leadership capability in directing diverse and creative cross-functional teams to achieve success. He is a highly regarded marketing and sustainability professional as well as an active outdoorist with a personal passion for outdoor recreation advocacy and public lands protection. Currently, he is the founder and principal consultant at Cynosura Consulting – a marketing consulting firm committed to guiding clients in creating authentic branding strategies with an emphasis on sustainability and transparency. His unique background includes a career in the Navy and a variety of industries working for both public and private companies. Before starting Cynosura, Dave was the Vice President of Marketing at Nester Hosiery, with the primary responsibility of growing their new sock brand – Farm To Feet. Prior to taking on Marketing at Nester, Dave was the Director of Sustainability overseeing both environmental and quality management. Upon joining Nester in 2010, Dave accelerated the company’s ongoing sustainability efforts by implementing a focused approach to environmental management at their facility. Dave also represented Nester Hosiery on the Outdoor Industry Association’s Sustainability Advisory Council, where he worked alongside other sustainability leaders to help guide the industry’s ongoing sustainability initiatives. Dave was also one of the manufacturing subject matter experts in the early development of the Higg index facilities environmental module. Dave lives in Mount Airy, NC with his wife, Dr. Lisa Petri. He has two daughters – Marissa and Laurel. When not working or spending quality time with his family, Dave is enjoys listening and playing music as well as enjoying the outdoors in activities like cycling and hiking.
