Kate Krause is an arbitrator, mediator, dispute review board member, and early neutral evaluator with more than 30 years’ experience in complex construction, commercial, and international disputes. She spent 15 years in construction litigation and contract negotiation in major law firms; three years as outside general counsel for a multi-national general contractor; and eight years as a construction claims consultant. Kate has been an arbitrator for 20 years, with her practice focused exclusively on alternative dispute resolution for the past five years. Her practice has involved projects ranging from single family homes to multi-million-dollar government and private residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects in the U.S. and internationally, including residential developments, luxury homes, treatment plants, power plants, airports, highways, bridges, hotels, conference centers, visitors’ centers, and military base ranges. Her construction expertise includes disputes involving government contracts, scheduling, defective design and construction, payment, cost overruns, changes, differing site conditions, surety bonds, insurance, real estate, and intellectual property. Kate is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Construction, Commercial, and Large Complex Case Panels, an arbitrator and mediator with Construction Dispute Resolution Services, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation, and the Assistant Secretary of the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section. She is a frequent speaker and author on construction law and arbitration topics that have appeared in national publications and treatises.
