Dr. Launchbury is an internationally recognized expert in formal methods and one of the creators of the popular Haskell programming language. He founded Galois in 1999 to support the U.S. Intelligence Community by applying formal methods to address critical encryption and software verification needs. Recently he was decorated with the DARPA Superior Public Service Medal for his service as director of the DARPA Information Innovation Office, directing in excess of $500M annually to develop game changing technologies that tackle critical DOD problems and opportunities in AI and cyber security.
