The Uniquely Abled Project

Ivan M. Rosenberg, Ph.D., is the Founder, President, and Chairman of the Board of The Uniquely Abled Project, a non-profit that is helping solve the significant workforce shortage experienced by fastener manufacturers. His presentation will describe how fastener companies can benefit by matching the unique abilities of individuals to the needs of their job vacancies. For example, to date in only 16-week programs two Uniquely Abled Academies have graduated 70 individuals with high functioning autism as entry level CNC machine operators. Four more UAAs will open in 2019, and three more are already in planning for 2020. In addition, dozens of individuals have been hired for jobs that are highly repetitive yet require detailed focus (a characteristic of fastener manufacturing tasks). Ivan is the Managing Partner of the management consulting firm InVista Associates, which helps its clients, mainly in aerospace & defense, accomplish breakthrough goals. He co-founded and is the Executive Director of the Aerospace & Defense Forum, an 8-chapter 2300+ national community that promotes collaboration and communication between A&D business leaders. In addition, he has been a university professor, a VP of an international firm, and founded a software company which is now 38 years old. He has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Morro Bay City Council. He received Bachelor and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Cornell University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Management from the University of Rochester.
