Mr. Thomas Becht is the Executive Director, Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Directorate, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He directs activities that crosscut acquisition planning, programming, budgeting and operational support for the $40 billion portfolio for MILSATCOM including the MILSTAR constellation, the Defense Satellite Communications System, the Wideband Global SATCOM Program, the Advanced Extremely High Frequency Program, the Advanced Concepts and Advanced Development Divisions, the Command and Control System-Consolidated Program, associated Air Force communication terminals, and mission control systems. Mr. Becht interfaces with executives in OSD, Air Staff, and MAJCOM concerning acquisition policies, budgets, and Congressional reports. Mr. Becht was commissioned into the Air Force in 1986 through the Loyola Marymount University’s ROTC program. He has primarily served in the RDT&E, test & evaluation, and acquisition communities in both the classified and unclassified communities. His experience and achievements include seven space and missile launches, establishment of the first theater missile defense skunkworks program, initiation of the GPS modernization program on the Block IIR satellites and leading the AFPEO for Space Staff. He retired from active duty in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and entered civil service in 2008.
