Mr. Gregory L. Garcia was selected for the Senior Executive Service in March 2005. He assumed the Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO)/ G-6 position in October 2018. As the Deputy CIO/G-6, Mr. Garcia oversees a $10 billion investment portfolio for implementation of an enterprise network infrastructure and strategy that deliver a responsive, effective, secure, collaborative and trusted environment of communication, information and technological superiority for the Army and its mission partners. He also manages Army information technology policy compliance and synchronizes delivery of operational command, control, communications, computers and information technology capabilities to support warfighters and business users and enable joint information dominance. Mr. Garcia previously served as the Chief Information Officer/G-6, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Prior to that position, his recent assignments included Executive Director of the U.S. Army Information Technology Agency; Special Advisor, Cyber Operations, SAF/A6 Chief Information Office; Deputy Director, Strategic Communications/Strategic Effects (J9), U.S. Forces-Iraq, U.S. Central Command; and Deputy Director, ISR Requirements Directorate, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC). He holds a Bachelor of Communication Arts from Texas Lutheran University, a Master of Business Administration from Incarnate Word University, and a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Princeton University. He is Acquisition Corps qualified and certified in Acquisition Program Management (Level III), Logistics/Life Cycle Logistics (Level III), Requirements Management, and Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt). His top civilian awards include the CJCS Joint Meritorious Civilian Service Award, two Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, the Department of State Meritorious Honor Award, and the Federal Managers Association Leadership Award.
