Tom Casas is the Vice President of Information Technology at Tanimura & Antle, headquartered in Salinas, California. Tom brings over 30 years of experience in Information Technology. He is a 1980 graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Tanimura and Antle (T&A) is a grower and shipper of lettuces, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, and other fresh vegetables. T&A employees over 2500 people in Salinas, CA, Yuma, AZ, and Livingston, TN. The employee owned company produces nearly 40 million cartons of fresh vegetables annually on 37,000 crop acres. Tom began his career at T&A in January of 1998. He has implemented numerous technological advancements. Tom’s team implemented a warehouse management system that created a paperless DC environment. The system propelled T&A into product bar coding, and RF enabled computer installations on a fleet of forklifts. T&A is now implementing mobility solutions across all areas of the operation. Tom is also leading an ERP upgrade that will change processes across the company. In addition, Tom was responsible for T&A’s harvest initiative that brought the QwikTrak’r product that enables traceability to each head of lettuce. Tom was also responsible for T&A’s Walmart Sales team. He was Co-Chair of the PTI Master Data Committee and participates on the PTI Leadership Council. He is also past COO of ProduceSupply.Org. Tom also had nine years of experience in Banking starting in 1989. He was employed by Household Credit Services in Salinas. His focus was information technology projects related to the CFO’s office. Tom began his career as a teacher. He then became a Dean of Instruction followed by a school Director for a non-profit technical institution. He was in education for 9 years in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving his family back California’s Central Coast.
