JAMES CRAWFORD has been assistant chief for Midway Fire Rescue in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, since 2010. He retired as the assistant chief of Pittsburgh in 2010 after 20 years. He is a retired deputy chief of operations for the Pennsylvania Air National Guard after 23 years of service. He is the past deputy chief of training for the Pennsylvania USAR team. Hehas an A.A.S. degree in fire science from Columbia Southern University
