Captain Josh Taylor is a proud son of New Jersey and a 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer in 1999 and redesignated as a Foreign Area Officer (Indo-Pacific) in 2012. He received Master of Arts degrees in Organizational Management from the George Washington University and Diplomacy and Military Studies from Hawaii Pacific University and holds professional certifications from the Naval War College, Joint Forces Staff College, and Naval Postgraduate School. Taylor’s operational tours include numerous deployments to the Middle East in support of Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM with Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 128, USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74), and VAQ-131. Most recently, he served at U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur as the Deputy Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation Malaysia where he had primary responsibility for Foreign Military Sales and Building Partner Capacity programs. Other assignments include internships with the Joint Staff, Directorate for Information Operations (J39); Director, Navy Staff; and Navy Senate Liaison Office; U.S. Pacific Command as a Legislative Affairs Officer; and Executive Assistant to Director, Maritime Headquarters, U.S. Pacific Fleet. Taylor recently completed a Federal Executive Fellowship at the Center for Strategic and International Studies where he focused on security cooperation and Gray Zone competition. He is an associate member of the Corbett Centre for Maritime Policy Studies and serves on the editorial board of the U.S. Naval Institute’s Proceedings magazine. An Eagle Scout, Taylor flew over 80 combat missions in the EA-6B Prowler. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Strike/Flight Air Medal (4), Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3) as well as various unit and campaign awards.
